WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?

A Unicode message is a message that is encoded using the Unicode standard.

A Unicode message includes a wide range of characters; thus, one is able to send an SMS in a language of their choice, be it Cantonese, Russian or Arabic, including current SMS lingo Emojis. However, characters under Unicode are multibyte characters thus each character is not 1 byte only as is the standard alphabet, i.e., a standard SMS usually has 160 characters of 1 byte each, while a multibyte SMS will be a maximum of 70 characters on a single SMS. For SMS's with more than the prescribed character length, the SMS will be sent in multiple parts which will be concatenated by the handset.

In its infancy, an SMS alphabet was standardized under GSM and used widely. The GSM standard is still used as the default SMS alphabet by most handsets. The character limit for a standard SMS is 160 characters.

Unicode is a universal character encoding standard that assigns a code to every character and symbol and every language in the world. Since no other encoding standard supports all languages, Unicode is the only encoding standard that ensures that you can retrieve or combine data using any combination of languages.

iTouch is therefore able to accommodate your language requirements, emojis, and special characters too.

We strive to understand your business inside and out so that we can support your business needs.
